At the same time the engine wiring harness was changed to the Modular Wiring System MWScreating a very simple installation process: a dedicated connector on the wiring harness could be plugged into the connector on the System Check gauge housing, and wiring of individual conductors was reduced or eliminated. There were four sensors: --a oil pulse sensor in the Oil Mixing System OMS pump NO OIL ; if the pulse sensor did not detect a pulsed flow of oil that was occurring at a rate proportional to the engine speed, it signaled an alarm; --a temperature sensor with preset switch closure threshold on the cylinder head WATER TEMP ; if the engine temperature exceeded the fixed threshold, it signaled an alarm; --a vacuum sensor with a preset switch closure threshold in the fuel supply line CHECK ENGINE ; if the vacuum in the fuel line exceed the threshold, it signaled an alarm; --a float level sensor in the oil reservoir LOW OIL ; if the oil level fell below the float switch fixed level, it signaled an alarm.

When any of these sensors detected an alarm condition, their electrical circuit closed to ground, and this electrical signal triggered various actions. The signals caused the associated lamp on the System Check gauge to illuminate to warn the operator. The signals activated an aural alert sounder to warn the operator. And, in the case of the temperature sensor, the signal was also able to activate the S.

The signals no longer originate directly from the various sensors. Instead the sensors are connected to the engine mangement module EMM. The condition in the E-TEC engine which will generate one of the four warning signals are notably different, and many more sensors are employed. As a result, interpretation of the four warning lamps is different with the E-TEC than with older engines.

This is a notable change from System Check. In the prior system, the operator was responsible for evaluating the warning indicators and deciding to stop the engine, and the only alarm condition that affected engine operation was the S. The sensor is part of the Oil Injector pump. The engine can be run for as long as five hours in this mode without oil.

This is intended to provide a get-home feature. This is a notable change from the previous system. In addition, this indicator can be shown in two modes: flashing or continuous. If the indicator is flashing, the condition is dangerous for the engine to continue running.

New impeller last year on hrs on motor. This is from the system check gauge at the bottom of the Tach.

Is that correct? Now that you say that it only happens above leads me to believe that you may have a speed related problem or a boat related problem. Aerated water does not cool the motor very well. Your dealer can easily find out if that is the problem by temporarily hooking up a water pressure gauge to the motor and a piece of clear hose to the EMM cooling outlet and run the boat at all speeds.

Not only that but you exceeded the required maintenance schedule which would have voided the extended warranty if you had it in force. Right now you need a trained tech to service the pump assembly, flush out the whole cooling system including the EMM and VST, service the blow-off valve and the thermostats.

Along with those, the rest of the 3 year service should be performed. Intermittent overheating problems have to be systematically checked out one step at a time.

First the diagnostic software is needed to find out what areas and how hot and how many times things are occurring. Install a new water pump kit per instructions and the tech should know how to "seat" the driveshaft before re-installing the gearcase. Turn on suggestions. Model No EDHLSUA Serial No model My 06 model E-Tec keeps saying it's over heating and buzzer coming on console but it's not over heating its been to the dealer for lots of new parts and acidized bath and new Ecm and wiring its been hooked up to a pyro and it shows it's not over heating if anyone has any info on this please help!!

Your engine temp at idle was good? My engine Idles fine, but overheated and and did not shut engine to safe mode. Can you provide photos? I'm having the same problem- EMM hot alarm without slow mode. Still getting hot alarm. Its getting REAL old. Damm even I am having a similar kind of issue, I have searched all over the internet and even have posted on number of threads on different forum, no solution seems to work.

Idled for min and hot alarm went off. The pressure relief valve does not affect idle overheating. Engine overheating at idle is caused by inadequate cooling water flow and faulty thermostat operation.

An EMM can also trigger an overheat warning but that normally occurs at a higher rpm. You cannot troubleshoot a cooling system problem while running the motor on a garden hose. The motor has to be in the water at a sufficient depth at or above the water pump.

It has happened 3 times starting December The boat is stored December to April. It then goes off and the engine runs perfectly. Each time it has happened it was at lower RPM, - The water pump was replaced 2 years ago at hours, thermostats replaced this winter, EMM hoses checked, etc. It does not lose water pressure. The printout shows it ran at - degrees for a total of seconds, each bank. The EMM did not overheat. I flush the motor after each use and service it annually. It set fault code Any thoughts?

After 65 hours using the Evinrude E-Tec 115 - Boat Motor Review

I had it serviced at an Evinrude dealer to check faults. They checked the EMM hoses and did a printout on the motor. I did the thermostats. It was spotless in the thermostat housings. It has done it twice this year.

Otherwise runs great. The waterpump was done two years ago at hours as scheduled. There is always water from the pisser but I know that is not the only indicator.

There is proper pressure in the engine.
